Playgroups allow both kids and parents to meet new people and have fun. Children aren't born knowing how to share toys, take turns, or sit criss-cross apple sauce -- being around other kids in a semi-structured program helps them learn those skills. They'll need them once they start school! For parents, playgroups give you a chance to meet other parents with young children. It's important to be able to talk with other parents and share the ups and downs of parenting. As our friends at the local MOPS group (Mothers of Preschoolers) say, "Parenting is hard. It doesn't have to be lonely!"
